Freedom Poster – Call For Submissions
April 29One of my favorite letterpress ladies is having a contest in honor of Independence Day. Check out the Dingbat Press blog.
Open to all students, designers, letterpress printers and artists. To celebrate our freedom and get an early jump on Independence Day 2010 there will be a call for submissions for freedom posters. This is a great opportunity to get your work showcased!
SPECS: Poster needs to be an 11×14″ Broadside with an 8×10″ live area. Ink colors are red, blue & silver. Submitter must flickr or blog about their submission and concept as well as link correctly to Linkz. You must link directly to the specific post, not your blog
main page. All submissions not linked correctly will be disqualified.
All artwork must be available (if chosen) as vector artwork (.ai, .eps). Artist will retain illustration/artistry copyrights, with the exception of turning the file over to Dingbat Press for printing.
THEME: Freedom and your ink colors are red, blue & silver.
DEADLINE for linking submissions: May 15, 2010.
VOTING: will then start for the designs submitted on May 16th and will close May 30, 2010.
The poster with the highest # of votes will be produced in a limited edition run of 50 prints by Dingbat Press and proceeds from the sale of the print will go to benefit the JDRF walk for a Cure in helping find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.

April 28Lorraine Nam created this adorable pop-up book, which follows the life of a boy who cannot sleep and the reader is able to change the creatures as the story progresses.
{Apropos since I cannot sleep this week. Thanks for the email Lorraine!}

In Remembrance
April 26
Our family dog passed away yesterday at the tender age of 17. In my family, the animals are more of a part of the family than they are pets. Max was a great dog and lived a fulfilled life but I can’t help being a bit sad about it.

Oh Wally!
April 23I put some woolly pockets up in the kitchen this week. Every time I walk in the room, they make me smile! Hopefully my black thumb will turn a little green this year. Have a great weekend!

April 21Karen sent me the link to N.E.E.T. magazine‘s paper garden spreads. Aren’t they fantastic? The tomatoes and carrots are making me hungry – good thing we’re headed to the farmer’s market tonight!

I’m Still Here.
April 19
I fell off the face of the internet. Sorry I haven’t read any blogs or really even sat at the computer all weekend. I’ll catch up soon.

Spring Dress
April 13I think maybe I’m in a dress mood. I posted dresses Friday, I’m wearing one today (which is really odd- I hardly ever wear dresses) and here’s another dress. This one is made of paper and I think I’d like to wear it too.
How’s the week going? I had a fantastic weekend but Monday was lost in translation. I’m hoping the rest of the week is better.
